About me and my counseling philosophy
My counselling philosophy is rooted in the belief that we are all interconnected. The decisions we make have ripple effects on others, often in ways that can be complex and challenging to navigate. Our present behaviour is shaped by our family system’s past, which often includes unspoken rules and patterns stemming from past traumatic events. I assist you in uncovering and understanding these dynamics to help you better navigate your personal and professional life.
I firmly believe in healing old wounds and trauma through emotional connection with others. In our sessions, I provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your past, emotions, and personal needs. As your therapeutic counsellor, I listen with deep empathy and compassion. We will delve into the crucial roles of self-acceptance and love in your current life and struggles.
For clients who are curious about, I draw upon principles from transpersonal psychology. This approach allows us to explore your immediate concerns and the deeper realms of your psyche and spirituality. Transpersonal psychology recognizes that personal growth and healing transcend the individual ego, encompassing higher states of consciousness and interconnectedness. Together, we embark on a journey to discover your inner self, seeking meaning, purpose, and a sense of transcendence. By integrating transpersonal perspectives into our work, we create a holistic approach to your well-being, fostering emotional healing, also spiritual growth and self-discovery.
My educational background includes a PhD in Clinical Nutrition from Göteborg University, Sweden, and four years of postdoctoral training at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Additionally, I am a certified yoga teacher, completing my training in 2012 at Semperviva in Vancouver, BC. In July 2023, I earned my diploma in transpersonal counselling from Clearmind International Institute®.
During 2023–2024, I completed Steps 1 and 2 in Emotionally Focused Therapy at the Couples Institute in Lund. This method is Canadian, and evidence based. It helps 7 out of 10 motivated couples improve their relationship and communication.
In January 2026, I completed the Step 1 of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at the Scandinavian Institute for Evidence-Based Psychotherapy. A Step 1 diploma is a requirement for therapists in the Swedish health care section. The program is certified by the Swedish Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies, ensuring that it meets high-quality standards.
